Our Float
I don't think I am being biased here when I say that our church float was the best one in the parade. A lot of other people have said it too! Our verse was "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. Hebrews 13:8" For yesterday we had a couple of junior high kids where the Mary and Joseph outfits, for today Mark was with a confirmand in front of a stained glassed window (I helped to paint it!) and forever was a painting of heaven with 2 little angels in front (Elie and Kirstie - although Bridget and I were debating about the 'angels' thing). It really was pretty cool.
5K
Well, I almost didn't run today due to the fact that it is SO WINDY!!!! 25-35mph winds with gusts over 40. What a great day for a parade and a run. Oh well, I figured I haven't been getting in shape for nothing so I might as well do it. And I reached all my goals: didn't walk, wasn't last, 30 minutes and I didn't have this for a goal but I even got a medal - I was first place in my age catagory (and no I wasn't the only one in my age catagory - I did ask!). So I was pretty happy about it.

Project Continued
I cut these pictures from October 2007 to show you the start before you view the finish at the end of this post. We aren't quite finished as we ran out of capstones and sidewalk pieces, but for the most part we are done, now I get the fun of planning for a flower bed for next spring. We are going to spray and weed out the whole thing and then plant our bulbs this fall, so hopefully I'll have some even more beautiful 'after' pictures to share next year1

Spreading
I really do have a good reason for not updating until now (it's after 11pm). We just got our electricity back on...we were in a tornado warning and had a NASTY storm come through for quite awhile. I was helping Jacalyn get our church's float ready for the parade on Saturday and we were cutting and glittering letters by candle light for awhile. Then we just had to wait it out and she didn't want to go back to church to the electricity came back on, so we were just hanging out wondering how long that would take.
The other good reason I have for not getting the pics done is that I was up most of the night last night as the stomach bug went through the whole house minus me - although Mark says I served my time beings as I had everyone (except him - thank goodness!) puke on me at some point in the last 24 hours so therefore I am exempt!
Will try again tomorrow provided bugs and storms don't spread any further :0)

Dentist and Stomach Bugs
Yesterday, all but Rachel went to the dentist. Mark and Eliya got a clean bill of mouth, mom has one tooth that has a surface cavity and Gabie is going straight to the pediodontist - ugh! Actually I don't think it's that bad (I hope!), but she is terrified of our dentist and we know she has a tooth that needs some work, so he's sending her straight to someone who specializes in kids, which I really appreciate - no need to tramatize her with the dentist and have her hate going for the rest of her life. Then during the night Mark was up with a stomach bug which then passed to Gabie this morning and Rachel this evening. Mark and Gabie's were relatively short lived and we even thought it was just some dehydration or something, but Rachel is has been throwing up non-stop since about 6 this evening (it's now 10). We did give her something to help stop the heaving, which also put her to sleep, but please say an extra prayer for our little pumkin that she keeps something down soon. The Norovirus (very common stomach bug) is going around and we're pretty sure that's what it is, seems to hit the really young and really old the worst, so we're praying she gets over it quickly and back to her perky self. I did get some pictures today, but with all the washing I'm trying to get done I don't have time to look for the camera....will try to upload tomorrow provided everyone is feeling better. Thanks for the prayers and for checking in on us!

Off and Running
we got new sand for the girl's sandbox, and they have this colored sand now so we now have pink, purple and green sand mixed together.
whenever I have to come in to do something this is what poor Rachel has to do. The other 2 can stay outside in the yard, but Rachel has to watch from the window until I go back out again.
Well, we've been home all of 3 days and never a dull moment - Mark has already done 1 wedding, 3 church services, 3 baptisms, and has 2 funerals scheduled for this week. Whew! Good thing he's had a freshing vacation!
ok, I'm adding a note to this post, right after I published it we watched the video and Rachel got all excited to see herself, pointing and saying "yes" everytime we asked her a question on the video, so we said "rachel, is that you?" and she nodded vigorously and smiled. She LOVES watching blog videos, I think her favorite ones to view are Josiah, she always gets so excited and 'talks' to him through the whole video.

Blocks

Classes
Here are some pictures from our week in Lincoln/Seward. I obviously didn't take nearly as many as usual with being gone all day, but there are some really cute ones.
Happily this is one of the girl's favorite activities, let's hope it stays that way!

Yes, I've been a rotten blogger this week, probably due to the overwhelming amount of time both Mark and I are spending in class. I promise when we get home I will add pictures to all of our adventures (I have quite a few!), but in the meantime, here's what we've been up to:
Sunday: We arrived in Lincoln, and Susan (who is taking classes with me) arrived shortly thereafter.
Monday: M, A and S went to class. Nana watched the girls. Cindy G and her granddaughter Natalie came in the afternoon to watch the girls since Nana had some meetings. Went for a walk to the park in the evening.
Tuesday: M, A and S went to class. E, G and R came with us to Seward as well as Aunt Pat. Then Nana met us and Pat and Nana took the girls to Linda's house and then to the children's museum in Lincoln. Tuesday night we all went out for ice cream.
Wednesday: Early childhood conference day - LONG DAY....the girls did a lot of swimming and bike riding.
Thursday: M,A and S went to class. Pat took Eliya and Gabie to the park. Nana brought the girls to Seward and we all went out for dinner with the early childhood group at Valentino's.
Friday: met Katie for breakfast in Lincoln, said goodbye to everyone and headed back to Gettysburg after we got done with class at noon.
Happily this is one of the girl's favorite activities, let's hope it stays that way!

Vacation!!!
Yes, we haven't updated in awhile, because we left town! It was a very last-minute decision....I will add pictures when I get to a place where I can - here's what we've been up to in the meantime.
Sunday: church, pack and drive a long long time. We made it to Eau Claire, WI where my great aunt and uncle Fred and Alice live.

They put us up for the night, provided hours of toy playing for the girls, treated us to a delicious breakfast and sent us on our way. We had a nice visit and were thankful for their great hospitality.

Monday: Drove to Greenbay, WI to meet up with our friends the Weidners. They live in Luxemburg just outside of Greenbay, and we played cards, went to the park, and just had fun.

Tuesday: Went to Bay Beach where there are all kinds of kiddie rides for a quarter a piece, great fun for 2 families with young kids. We spent the day with the Weidners and then drove to Appleton late evening to meet up with the Reichles.

Elijah, Eliya and Gabie took a ride on a water-boat. For some reason (other than the carosel) Gabie HATED all the rides, so she only did 2, and then she was content to just walk around and watch.

Wednesday: painted, ran, went for bike rides to various parks, and just had a fun filled day.
Our first morning at breakfast Mina greeted us with a wave...of her foot :0) and then just held it up there for awhile, it was too cute!
This is the coolest part of nate and sarah's house - they have these awesome crawl space / play areas in their house. They finished it, carpeted it and put in some lights (as you can see Sarah fixing) and they created a very fun hideaway fort for Mina (and our girls when we visit! :0)

we decided that since these swings have feet holes on both sides it must be meant for 2 babies to swing at once, and they were a perfect fit!

Thursday: drove to Duluth and stayed at a hotel with a water-park! (thanks mike and sarah!!!!), swam, swam, and swam some more - everyone went to bed exhausted!
These are a few looks from the view of our hotel room. The water park was amazing, and it kept Eliya, Gabie and Julia busy for hours! Plus, due to a little mix up with our room when we arrived we were given a free pizza from the restaurant there, so we even got free supper at the water park!
Friday: got up and swam some more, and then headed to Mike and Sarah's house. Went down to the lake (Superior) and fed birds (ewwww...) and threw rocks in the lake - this kept the kids very happy!

Sunday: watched as Mary became a child of God - of course I got tears in my eyes as I always do when this happens, what an awesome moment to be a part of. Then drove 9 hours from Duluth to Lincoln to stay at grandma and grandpa haase's house.
Sarah and I traded, so that we were each holding our goddaughter during church, what a special moment!
