A Few Answers

This was one of "those" days as far as the whole doctor thing goes. For those of you who might not know, we took Gabie back to Sioux Falls last Thursday for some on-going problems and they ran some tests and we've been waiting (patiently?) to hear back from them. I called the lab yesterday and they said they had faxed all the results to the # given on the orders. So I called the doc this morning and (sigh), found out her doctor will be out of the office till Tuesday, but perhaps his nurse could call us back. She did @ 5:03 and asked where we had her labs done...needless to say I'm not sure where the labs faxed her results, but it was NOT to Dr. Bauer's office (groan). So after many phone calls etc. We do know this....she had some kind of bacteria infection in her digestive track. She's not digesting some foods properly. We're still waiting for some results and we will talk to Dr. Bauer on Tuesday to find out where we go from here. Nothing earth-shakering, and quite simple and easy to take care of. Probably won't even have to change her diet too much, but watch it a little more carefully and give her something to help boost her immune system (we were already giving it to her, but I guess we'll stick with it.) Whew! Such an easy answer, but I felt like I road on a rollar coaster to get it!

In the meantime, she has still been wearing mostly 9-12 month sized clothing and she will be 2 in November so I was determined to put her into 12-18 month clothes. We therefore spent the day helping her hitch up her drawers every time she moved, it was very cute. I just hope Rachel doesn't out-grow her too quickly!

Thumb-Sucker

I tried and tried to get her to take a pacifier, but she just seems to prefer her thumb. For all of you thinking I'm crazy for wanting a nuk instead of thumb my theory is this - you can cut the end of the nuk off, but you can't cut their thumb off.
P.S. We still haven't heard from the doc, but I called the lab today and they just sent the last report late this morning, so hopefully tomorrow.

Who's the Cutest of them all?

Gabie had the cutest pig-tails in today, this picture, however, was her getting up from her nap (dragging glo-worm I might add) Her hair is just a little messy!

Eliya can roll her tongue - how bout you? (no worries if you can't, it's a genetic thing, not a talent thing)

As calm as she looks now, don't be deceived! She is a rolling machine, now rolling both ways (tummy to back and back to tummy). She is just hilarious when she goes from her back to her tummy ~ she sticks her butt way up in the air and she little legs are just a moving trying so hard to crawl and join her sisters in all their antics.

Silly Days

Nothing much has been happening here. We are still waiting to hear from the doctor (sigh) about the Gabster. We had a trip to Aberdeen on Tuesday for Mark to hit his nursing homes and shut-ins that direction. I was able to get some plastic storage tubs on clearance and eliminated the 26 diaper boxes that I was storing kids clothes in and switched it over to the tubs. That was quite a project, but really needed to be done.

1st Day of Daycare

These pictures were taken first thing this morning when we told Rachel she would be going to daycare for the first time. Preschool starts next Thursday so this week is my "work week" to get everything ready for the first day. She did great! Elie and Gabie will continue to go to Candys during my school hours, but Rachel gets her own private daycare with a grandma from our church. What a blessing she has been for us to take Rachel! And her grandbabies are the twins that were born the day after Rachel, so I'm sure they will get to know each other quite well over the next few months.

Swinging

Today was a quiet day. Eliya got to play with Kirstie all day, half of it here and than they went to Kirsties aunt's house. While she was off we let Rachel try out swinging for the first time. She seemed to like it.

Ugh!

Okay so I tried to update this a couple times over the past few days and can't seem to get my computer and camera to talk to each other. Then we had an unplanned trip to Sioux Falls - yes, Gabie seems to be sick again. On the positive side - she's not in the hospital. On the negative side - we still don't know what's up, just that somethings up. So in the mean-time, please keep her in your prayers and we'll try to update again soon.

Butter

Wednesday afternoon the girls and I got out the old butter churn that my grandma gave me and we decided to try it out. They thought it was pretty cool and I wanted to make sure I knew what I was doing before trying it out in preschool during 'foods' week. We poured in heavy cream and a little salt and a while later we had butter! I even made homemade banana bread during theit naptime to go with it. When then had company Wednesday evening to share our snack with. The Erlandsons from LIC came to visit and we had a lot of fun hanging out with them and were thirlled they included us in their vacation plans.

Paint

On Tuesday Kirstie came over to play, and we broke out the sidewalk paint. It's this stuff that goes on like paint and dries like chalk. They loved it! And the girls are also showing off their new jammies I found yesterday on clearance. Eliya still loves Dora, but she's also very fond of Cinderella right now.

Projects

Rachel trying desperately to crawl

I think our whole house has had a transformation. For those of you that have been here you will realize the significant changes. Our closet was especially a grand undertaking - the wall is uneven and has a drop-off of almost 2 inches half-way through - happily the same as a two-by-four, which we used to rig our new frame, but added quite a bit of time and problem solving to the job. (isn't that pant thing cool?!) For those of you who don't know, we have a very odd closet, with stairs in it :0). For anyone that hasn't been here...welcome to our 'new' home - which still needs some cleaning from our major projects. And of course there's also the usual cute pictures of the girls.
On a different note - Mark had a shut-in visit in Pierre today, so us girls tagged along. Eliya was in need of new shoes for the fall/winter so while he was on his errand we shopped for shoes. I couldn't believe how big her feet are! Size 11! She must take after her mom, Bigfoot! We also got to have quick supper with Jess and Levi - thanks for meeting us guys!

Projects!

Sorry for our absense from the internet, we've been doing multiple projects around the house that has taken most of our time and all or our energy. I'll try to add some pictures of our 'finished products' tomorrow.

Busy Day

Today was crazy busy, which wasn't exactly planned, just one of those days I guess. Here are some of the highlights:
~ I was asked to coach the high school JV v-ball team because the current coach found out she has cancer (to all of you thinking I still don't know how to say no, I actually learned that word for once!)
~ Collecting gallons of tempra paint that was donated to the preschool - anyone thinking this is an insignificant feat, try doing it with 3 little ones in tow.
~ Froze 3 quarts of sweet corn, and then was given another bussel, so I'll tackel that tomorrow.
~ continued to gather things for our rummage sale this weekend. We had some friends that had a bunk bed, exactly what we wanted for the girl's room, so we picked that up tonight and put it together, once again no small feat when you realize we did this w/out directions! (they couldn't find them, but had all the pieces). We wanted to get it done before the sale so we could get rid of the double bed that was in their room. The quilts on both bunks were made by my great grandma.
~ Nap time, which is usually the easiest part of the day, but all three girls wanted to be held/cuddled so we gathered in the big rocking chair until they all nodded off and slipped out.

A Few More Fun Ones

Eliya and Rachel having a snuggle

Amanda and I both got our hair done by Amy

Off for the 1st day of school - Eliya is so jealous, I don't know how I'm going to keep her home for 2 more years!

So Strong

Rachel is getting so strong and can have a whole conversation while on her tummy holding her head and shoulders up off the ground before rolling over onto her back.

Back to School Shopping

We went to Sioux City today for back to school shopping for Amanda, Rebecca and Hannah. Jenn joined us as well. It was quite warm and humid so we decided to take a dip when we got back.
